This not-too-difficult hike allows to discover the magnificent Lake of Oo in the Pyrenees and the Lake of Espingo.
If you are near Bagnères-de-Luchon you have to do this walk, it is one of the most famous of the Pyrenees. After an hour's walk you will reach the Lake of Oo with this superb panorama on the waterfall. It's not difficult to reach the lake of Oo however the trail becomes steeper to join the second Lake: the Lake of Espingo.
At the start of the hike you will find large car park for your car. You can even come by bus from Luchon in the summer season. You can eat on the trail there are several shelters along the way. The return is made by the same path.
To come: In Luchon, climb up to the col de Peyresourde. Castillon, take the D 76 up to Oo and continue the small road to the Astau barns (1139 m).
It’s easy to find the start of the walk, it’s just near the car park.
Start of the hike
The path is well signposted. You can’t get lost and there are many tourists. The ascent to the lake of Oo, is easy, once arrived at the Lake of Oo you can continue to the Lake of Espingo (the ascent is more difficult).
