A shopping street
A downtown street where you can find restaurants to eat local food. These are not the best restaurants in the city.

The Old Stock Exchange

The Old Stock Exchange
One of the most beautiful monuments of the city. You can visit the inner courtyard of the Old Stock Exchange, it is open every afternoon, from Tuesday to Sunday. It hosts a second-hand book market.

The Belfry of the Chamber of Commerce

The Belfry of the Chamber of Commerce
The biggest belfry of Lille is the one of the City Hall: 104 meters high. The Belfry of the Chamber of Commerce is a little bit smaller: 76 meters. At noon the bells ring on the tune of the "p'tit Quinquin"!

The Meert storefront

The Meert storefront
The house is known for the quality of its waffles. It's up to you to judge if they deserve their reputation.

The Meert tea room

The Meert tea room
You can enjoy the waffles that are the great specialty of the house in a lovely tea room. Meert's waffles are not like the classic waffles you find everywhere. They are cold and filled with vanilla. The quality of the ingredients is undeniable but this waffle is very (too) sweet and quite quickly sickening.

Lille Opera

Lille Opera
The Lille Opera is a neo-classical theater built from 1907 to 1913.

Our Lady of the Treille

Our Lady of the Treille
The church was built to honor a miraculous statue of Our Lady of the Treille, a work of the late 12th century. The construction of the cathedral took over 150 years. When the bells were finished, the church was not ready to receive them, so a bell tower was quickly built next door. This one is still in use.

The zoo of Lille

The zoo of Lille
Admission to the zoo is free. It is the kind of zoo a little old-fashioned that is hard to see. The animals are exposed in small enclosures behind heavy fences.

The entrance to the citadel
