Discovery of Paray-le-Monial in Burgundy

Paray-Le-Monial is a charming small town in Saône-Loire. It is an important place of pilgrimage for Catholics.

Paray-le-Monial in south of Burgundy is a major centre of Catholic pilgrimage. One of the places to discover is the chapel of the Apparitions. In this chapel Jesus appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque. You can still see the body of the Saint inside the chapel. Then you can walk to discover the Basilica with its park and the magnificent Town Hall. The city is not really great and you can visit all in half a day. The visit is much more interesting during the summer season there are many pilgrims (the City Museum is closed from December to March!). Furthermore the city can be the starting point for many hikes in the surrounding countryside.
