Discovering the city of Trappes

Discovering the city of Trappes

It is difficult to have a worse reputation than the city of Trappes, for most people the city of Trappes evokes nothing but urban violence and religious fundamentalism. This is not completely false, on summer mornings we can only observe the new degradations and burned cars. On the other hand, in the list of the worst cities in the Paris suburbs, Trappes is not the last, you have to go to Saint-Denis with all these open-air traffic to realize it.

The salt granary

The salt granary
The salt attic used to store salt as the name suggests is now a movie theatre. A cinema massively subsidized by public funds as in many cities. The room is very well rated, there really are not many people, we are not disturbed during the film.

Trappes Town Hall

Trappes Town Hall
The building is very ugly. The mayor at the time had to be inspired by Soviet architecture.

The statue of Jean Jaurès

The statue of Jean Jaurès
Jean Jaurès was a Marxist-leaning socialist MP assassinated in 1914. The statue that was erected was of course paid for by the taxpayer for the mayor's pleasure. How many trappes know Jean Jaurès? The mayor's very generous social policy leads to very high local taxes in the city.
