The island of La Jatte

The Ile de la Jatte is an island on the Seine not far from the district of La Défense

Ile de la Jatte was often represented by impressionist painters in the years 1850-1950, it was then a place of relaxation for Parisians who came to dance in the guinguettes and enjoy the softness of the banks of the Seine. Today, the Ile de la Jatte is mostly a rather posh residential area with a small public park. The walk on the island remains pleasant but it does not have the charm of yesteryear. You can still walk along the Seine. If you are in the area, do not hesitate to visit the Ile de la Jatte.

The Ile de la Jatte is a very residential area, there are not many green spaces. Sometimes the architects have made efforts not to build always the same rich building.

A Sunday afternoon on the Île de la Grande Jatte,
Georges Seurat painted this picture representing the Ile de la Jatte in 1886. If you look hard enough you can find explanations about the paintings that were done on the Ile de la Jatte during your walk.

The Guinguette of Neuilly

The Guinguette of Neuilly
Nice restaurant along the Seine but not really a guinguette since it is not possible to dance. The prices of the dishes are those of Neuilly.

The tennis courts

The rest of the walk is not so interesting, we walk along the tennis courts and other sports facilities.
